Directions to Historic Downtown New Bern

BY LAND...

From Raleigh, NC:
From I-40, follow Highway 70 East to New Bern. Upon reaching the city limits, take the Jacksonville (HWY 17/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) exit. At the stoplight, turn left onto HWY 17 N/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Continue straight on HWY 17 N/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., following the Convention Center and Tourist Information signage. HWY 17 N becomes Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street you will turn to the right onto East Front Street. Go to the stoplight and then turn right onto South Front Street.

From Greenville, NC:
Follow HWY 43 South through Vanceboro. Outside of Vanceboro, just past the Rest Area, HWY 43 S will turn to the right. Continue straight on HWY 43 S. After passing the Trademart Gas Station, Hwy 43 S will merge onto Neuse Blvd. Continue straight on Neuse Blvd. At the stoplight, you will go left onto Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street you will turn to the right onto East Front Street. Go to the stoplight and then turn right onto South Front Street

From Wilmington, NC:
Follow Highway 17 North to New Bern. Upon reaching New Bern city limits, continue to follow 17 North (also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd). Continue straight on HWY 17 N/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., following the Convention Center and Tourist Information signage. HWY 17 N becomes Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street you will turn to the right onto East Front Street. Go to the stoplight and then turn right onto South Front Street.

From Fayetteville, NC:
Follow I-95 North to Smithfield, NC. From I-95 at Smithfield, take Highway 70 East to New Bern. Upon reaching the city limits, take the Jacksonville (HWY 17/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) exit. At the stoplight, turn left onto HWY 17 N/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Continue straight on HWY 17 N/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., following the Convention Center and Tourist Information signage. HWY 17 N becomes Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street you will turn to the right onto East Front Street. Go to the stoplight and then turn right onto South Front Street.

From Northern States:
Follow I-95 North to Smithfield, NC. From I-95 at Smithfield, take Highway 70 East to New Bern. Upon reaching the city limits, take the Jacksonville (HWY 17/ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) exit. From East:
Follow Highway 70 West. Upon reaching the city limits, follow the Pembroke/Trent Woods exit. At stoplight, turn right onto First Street. Continue down First Street. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street, turn right onto East Front Street. At first stoplight, turn right onto South Front Street.

Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN), is located 2 miles southeast of downtown New Bern off U.S. 70. It offers as many as 12 daily nonstop flights to Atlanta or Charlotte with one-stop connections to more than 300 destinations worldwide via US Airways Express and Delta Connection. Food is available in the terminal, and airport parking is available for 50¢ per half-hour or $6 daily.

Directions from Airport to Downtown New Bern:
Turn left onto Airport Road when you exit the airport. At the light, turn left onto Highway 70 West. You will go over the Neuse River Bridge and then take the Trent Woods/Pembroke exit. At the top of the ramp, turn right at the light onto First Street. Continue down First Street. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Broad Street. At the end of Broad Street, turn right onto East Front Street. At first stoplight, turn right onto South Front Street.

BY SEA...

Boaters arriving on the water come up the Intracoastal Waterway following the channel markers that will bring them to the Neuse River into New Bern. The Neuse River flows into the Pamlico Sound and has well-marked channels. New Bern also fronts the Trent River, which flows into the Neuse.

Boats of all sizes can find berthing space in downtown New Bern and nearby marinas. Whether you're just cruising around or wish to launch your boat at one of the many local ramps, most locations have similar facilities. In the downtown area especially, it is not unusual for leisure yachters or sailors to arrive for what they thought would be a short visit only to find themselves living aboard their vessels, staying weeks, sometimes months, even years.
