New Bern is also synonymous with Boating, Sailing, Fishing and Water Sports! Sailors and fishermen ply the waters in the Neuse River and nearby Pamlico Sound twelve months of the year! The graceful Trent River, a water-skiing and fishing paradise, has been called the "Country Club of Bass Fishing" by a noted outdoor writer. White masts dot the waters of the many marinas from New Bern to Oriental, where boaters from northern states enjoy the beauty and sites of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). This quaint little southern town is host to Annual Sailing Regattas, as well as major fishing tournaments.

Some of the hotel marinas, however, offer daily rates for visitors as well as monthly and yearly rates. All have electric and water hook-up. Some have laundry, showers, pools, restaurants, cable TV and phone.
